Course Objectives

This course focuses on human language from a social and cultural perspective. The students are introduces to a variety of tools for linguistic analysis as well as detailed information about the founders, foundations, theories and frameworks developed in/related to the field of Sociolinguistics. The main aims of the course are to enable students to think critically, ask vital questions, work collaboratively and produce empirical research uncovering the multifaceted forms and functions of language in various social contexts.
