This course aims to show the relationship between lexical items and structural forms through detailed analysis of reading texts. The texts are chosen, taken and/or adapted from newspapers, magazines, academic journals, literary texts and so on and so forth. The lexical items will be examined with a focus on prefixes & suffixes, phrasal verbs, idioms, slangs and collocations in written English.
At the end of the course students will be able to:
a) learn the relationships between the lexical items and the grammatical structures in a variety of academic and daily contexts
b) learn various word formation strategies, idioms, collocations, proverbs, and phrasal verbs
