Course Learning Outcomes

Maxwell equations in Gaussian units, boundary conditions between media interfaces, electrostatics, boundary value problems in electrostatics, multipoles and dielectrics, magnetostatics, boundary value problems in magnetostatics, Green functions for the wave equation, Poynting’s theorem will be discussed in detail. Time-permitting, plane waves in a nonconducting medium, linear and circular polarization, reflection and refraction of electromagnetic waves at a plane interface between dielectrics will also be studied in detail.
