1. Students will learn about the need for studying soil and groundwater pollution, types, sources and physical-chemical properties of subsurface contaminants and related environmental concerns

2. Students will learn about fundamental physical laws and properties of porous media related to water storage and movement in the subsurface environment

3. Students will learn about the fundamental processes governing contaminant fate and transport in the subsurface environment

4. Students will learn how to assess the extent and level of impacts of man’s activities on soil and groundwater resources and learn about the ways of the protection and restoration of the quality of these natural resources
