Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Recognize the significance of safety in mining industry and become familiar to the legal aspects and historical mine accidents in the world and in Turkey.
- Gain in depth knowledge about industrial hygiene including heat, noise, illumination, and vibration related problems and safety standards in mines.
- Improve the recognition of safety issues in haulage design and ground control in both surface and underground mining.
- Describe and outline accident prevention methods.
- Implement a qualitative risk assessment as a team work and present their findings in a project completion.
- Recognize the significance of emergency preparedness and response.
