Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:

1) use the IPA chart to transcribe the words correctly.

2) successfully identify the sound differences.

3) differentiate the sounds depending on their manner of articulation and place of articulation.

4) be familiarized with the use of stress and intonation patterns .

5) articulate the English words and sentences accurately in terms of phonetics.

6) identify the difference between British and American English.

7) make use of dictionaries, charts and other materials and resources with the purpose of improving their pronunciation.

8) produce minimal pairs, minimal sentences and tongue twisters to teach the sounds in English at a basic level.
