Throughout the course, developments in instrumentation and fluorescence labels will be introduced. Applications of the new fluorescence dyes and proteins to biological samples will be discussed. Case studies of new methods such as single-molecule detection in living cells, fluorescence energy transfer techniques to identify protein-protein interactions, and fluorescent biosensors will be introduced.
