Course Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this course, the student will be able to:

Analyse sources of errors in engineering measurements.

Identify and analyse measuring instrument calibration techniques, geometric tolerances and their measurement, gage design, linear and angular measurement in the context of engineering metrology.

Analyse measurements of threads, gears, surface roughness and testing of machine tools.

Identify quality assurance systems: ISO 9000 series of standards.

Apply acceptance sampling, sampling plans and control charts design, and process capability analysis methods in the context of quality engineering and control.

Identify various industrial engineering metrology and quality control practices.

Identify industrial quality performance improvement tools and techniques.
