By the end of the course the students will be able to:

- Identify major changes happened in the Ottoman Empire after the Tanzimat reforms.

- Identify and analyze the impact of nationalism on the Ottoman state and society as emergence of nationalisms, and political organizations.

- List and analyze constitutional experiences in the Ottoman Empire.

- Describe Ottoman modernization and its impact on state and society and nation state building efforts in the Ottoman Empire.

- Identify effects of the late 19th and early 20th century wars on the Ottoman crisis, changes and foreign relations.
