Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- identify linear and non-linear wave theories, ranges of application of these theories,
- refresh his knowledge about small amplitude wave theory and transformation of regular waves,
- have the ability to analyze the water level measurements both in time domain and frequency domain, and to use spectral tools,
- understand the nature of random sea waves, generation and propagation of these waves in the nearshore and deep water, transformation of random waves under various effects,
- have the ability to use the statistical tools to study short and long term and extreme statistics of waves (or wind speeds) to determine design parameters in coastal and ocean engineering problems.
