Course Objectives

This course in aimed to expand students’ knowledge and understanding about Clinical Psychology with a critical viewpoint. It aims to cover some practical clinical issues related to clinical area that couldn’t be covered at the PSYC442 Clinical Psychology course. Therefore, students are expected to take PSYC440 course as an extension of PSYC442 course.

The course will have two main parts: at the first part, the instructor will introduce some topics in clinical area to be covered and discussed. The other part belongs to the students since they are expected to choose a topic specific to Clinical Psychology, search this topic, read journal article(s), write a paper about their issue basing on the articles they read, prepare a presentation of their issue for their class-mates and raise discussion points about their issue (both at the paper and at the presentations). Thus, rather than being a deductive tutorial, this course is planned to be more like a clinical interest and discussion time. Therefore, only the students who are really keen on clinical area are advised to enroll.

Students will be able to ask, think, discuss different possible clinical cases and will produce ethical and appropriate solutions to the problems. Therefore active participation of the students is vital.
