At the end of this course, the student is expected to understand the basic concepts of engineering design and the application of those design concepts to the full spectrum of geological engineering design problems/projects so that the student will gain the theoretical knowledge and vision that is necessary for implementing the continuing course GEOE 492-Geological Engineering Design II, where he/she is required to complete a major engineering design project in small design groups.
