Course participants will be able to think critically about the issues affecting children and families’ interactions with various media types. Students will be able to recognize the major theoretical perspectives regarding children, families and media.  Course participants will develop a philosophical position on the place for media communication in culture. Specifically, students will be able to link media systems, communication, technology and human development within the context of media in the lives of children and families. Students will be able to conceptualize, design, and produce one or more works in media based on effective principles and practices of early childhood media.
