This course aims to develop the essential basis for Econometrics and the quantitative methods in the other fields of Economics. The course starts with a discussion of basic probability concepts. Next, it presents discrete and continuous probability distributions. Then, it studies the point and interval estimation of parameters of interest together with the desirable properties that an estimator can have. Lastly, the course completes with a discussion of hypothesis testing.
