Course Learning Outcomes

This course includes parts from the following outcomes. The ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering is achieved since this is an engineering course. We normally conduct inclass experiments conduct experiments and design setups, as well as to analyze and interpret data by hand calculations and FEM. An ability to design a SHM system, its components, or monitoring process to meet desired needs is also among outcomes. Students are asked to work on multi-disciplinary teams and properly interact with team-mates. The ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems is achieved. The course content requires to obtain understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities as well. Term projects and first homework is presented in class therefore ability to communicate effectively is a part of the tasks and outcomes. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context. A recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in life-long learning is also achieved since students are requiested to find case staties and answers to open ended questions. A knowledge of contemporary issues is achieved by internet search homeworks. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice is also a vaible outcome of this course.
