Course Objectives

This course is aimed at students interested in environmental psychology and the climate crisis. The ultimate goal of the course is to produce original research projects about the climate crisis from a social and environmental psychological perspective. We will combine psychological and structural approaches to beliefs and actions about the climate crisis. The relative consensus among climate scientists regarding the urgency of the problem needs to be coupled with fundamental societal and cultural changes. In addition to the psychological associates of these changes, we will explore how the barriers against such changes (e.g., denial, conspiracy theories, manufacture of consent, and anti-science beliefs) are enacted and maintained.
