Course Objectives

This course explores the diversity, ecology and functions of freshwater microorganisms in a diverse range of freshwater habitats. The course aims to communicate the latest literature, the state-of-the-art tools for identifying and studying microbial diversity, and develop an understanding of the current knowledge gaps and future directions of research. Comparisons with marine ecosystems are introduced whenever necessary.
