Course Learning Outcomes

1. At the end of the course unit, students will be able to describe and explain the basic definitions of strain-rate, Logarithmic strain and Ratio of dynamic to static flow stress.

2. At the end of the course unit, students will be able to understand the difference between the quasi-static and dynamic properties of materials.

3. At the end of the course unit, students will be able to analyze one-dimensional elastic-plastic stress waves propagating in bars.

4. At the end of the course unit, students will be able to improve their knowledge on how beams respond to Impulsive Loading.

5.  At the end of the course unit, students will be able to analyze static and dynamic loading of rings and frames: forming Plastic hinges in straight beams and circular rings, Zig-Zag Structure.

6.  At the end of the course unit, students will be able to analyze dynamic response of some axi-symmetric solids: fast compression of a short cylinder, dynamic expansion of cylindrical shells.

7. At the end of this course, students will be able to learn how to prepare, submit and present a detailed technical report on an assigned subject.
