At the end of this course, students will be able to:
(1) Evaluate the feasibility and select appropriate geosynthetic materials for various different civil engineering applications
(2) Discuss the testing procedures and properties of geosynthetics
(3) Design/analyze a reinforced soil wall/slope (mechanically stabilized earth wall, MSEW)
(4) Design a conventional granular filter and a geotextile filter
(5) Evaluate and decide on a pond/canal liner system with appropriate geomembranes
(6) Design unpaved road sections reinforced with geosynthetics
