Course Objectives

This course is designed to develop the communicative competence in German. By "communicative", we mean to express own ideas orally and in writing, and to develop strategies for understanding spoken and written discours- as opposed to merely memorizing vocabulary lists and grammar rules. By "competence", we mean that the acquisation of the language must show a  level B1 or B2  of grammatical, lexical, and cultural accuracy. The classroom interaction will be in German, because input and use are the chief engines of foreign language acquisation.

In order for students to practice their oral skills and carry out the group work that will be assigned throughout the course, class attendance is essential. Students will develop their oral skills individually, in pairs  or in groups by carrying out different communicative tasks related to the topics being studied in the course books as well as any supplementary materials that will be handed out during the course or be available on the virtual learning platform.
