Course Learning Outcomes

Course Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, the student will be able to:

(Knowledge:)
Understand and interpret the basic concepts and principles of design such as design elements, organization and tectonic articulation, as well as their interrelationships

(Skills:)
Think and design through physical and digital making
Arrange multiple elements in an orderly manner; manage a number of elements and constant/variable dependency relations; analyze and describe series of relations between the elements of a composition
Have a basic understanding of solids and voids, and their spatial and tectonic relations in space
Think three-dimensionally, argue relevant positions and articulate design ideas expressively in graphical, written and oral form
Understand and implement the concepts of analysis and design synthesis
Engage in research and analysis based on a variety of (interdisciplinary) resources
Manage teamwork and collaboratively contribute to design
Work fluently between design tools, methods, media, and modes of learning / thinking work with coherent and logical design steps (by means of design rules or a procedural description)
Refine physical and digital model making skills

(Attitudes:)
Show evidence of self-confidence in making design decisions within the given time limits
Respond positively to criticism
Display intellectual curiosity and a critical perspective towards architectural problems
Demonstrate self-discipline and strong work ethics
