Course Objectives

This course is about psychotherapy. The main objective of the course is to introduce concepts such as "the ethical and scientific necessities for therapy", "therapy setting" and "therapy frame", thus giving emphasis to elaborate what therapy is, how it should be learned and conducted.

Common and distinguishing features of different therapy schools will be discussed. The students will also get a better understanding of psychoterapy theories and related methods and techniques. Cognitive, behavioral end psychoanalytic theories will be introduced as well as family therapy approaches. So, the students will have a chance to consider these theories' (and their applications) strengths and shortcomings.

The students will (hopefully) be able to distinguish between proper and problematic applications in therapy from scientific and ethical perspectives. This will help them to plan their carrers as clinical psychologists.
