This course aims to introduce students to the central ideas, traditions of thinking and application of the disciplines of Sociology and Politics. As such it aims to provide a solid foundation for all social science disciplines and is appropriate for any first-year social science student.
At the end of the course, students will
• know the historical transformation of the Social Science disciplines with a focus on the separation and relation between Sociology and Politics fields.
• learn diverse transformations of the social and political fields separately and in relation to each other.
• understand classical theories and basic debates of Sociology and Political Science.
• become familiar with contemporary thinking in Political Science and Sociology.
