This course is designed to develop future English teachers’ understanding of the relationship between lexical semantics, clause structure and discourse in English. By focusing on topics such as lexical and structural cohesion, accessibility hierarchy, lexical aspect, passivisation, verb types and sentence structure, that are usually problematic for second language learners, the course aims to equip students with tools that will help them do in-depth analyses of the linguistic data coming from native and non-native speakers of English.
