Students, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- identify Navier-Stokes equations and their simplified forms in the context of wave hydrodynamics,
- identify non-linear finite-amplitude wave theories and their application ranges,
- identify laminar and turbulent boundary layers,
- describe basics of the mathematical modeling of wave boundary layers,
- identify wave breaking and breaker types,
- describe flow induced by spilling and plunging waves, and generation of the undertow,
- identify the closure problem, the scales of turbulence and turbulence models,
- describe the potential approaches to simulate turbulence beneath surface waves.
