By the end of this course, the students will be able to:
• Associate language use with certain social categories.
• Identify the role of sociolinguistics in language teaching both at micro and macro levels.
• Develop an awareness of Turkish educational contexts from a sociolinguistic point of view.
• Develop an awareness of certain language teaching pedagogies based on a variety of sociolinguistic approaches.
• Identify and critically analyze sociolinguistics characteristics of English textbooks.
• Design and carry out small-scale research project into areas of interest within the framework of sociolinguistics and language teaching.
