This course introduces the student to Operating Systems, both their design and functions, while however maintaing an emphasis on use. At the end of this course, the student will: 

• Be able to explain the purpose of Operating Systems
• Describe the makeup of an Operating Systems, being able to explain the purpose of its major components
• Be familiar in their use and have a command of multiple Operating Systems, specifically Microsoft Windows and UNIX (flavours)
