The information system is a very important component for the success of companies and organizations. Information systems can help all types of organizations increase the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes, make management decisions, and strengthen the organization's competitive position in a rapidly changing marketplace. Internet-based information systems have quickly become the ingredients needed for business success in today's dynamic global environment. The concept of information technology is indeed very broad, encompassing various disciplines such as data analysis, software engineering, networking, computer hardware, security, ethics, artificial intelligence, and so on. Therefore, the course does not attempt to cover all or any of these areas in depth, but rather to provide a general overview of information systems concepts, some of which you will certainly encounter in your professional life. Lectures will follow the textbook for the most part, with some minor diversions as needed.
At the end of the course, the students will be able to
