By the end of the course students will have:
- Ability to apply the first law of thermodynamics to a practical system
- Ability to make thermodynamic cycle calculations aimed at a preliminary design.
- Ability to evaluate the performance of IC engines in critical manner
- Learning the operation of and the identification with respect to field of application of the various auxiliary systems of IC engines
- Learning to test and evaluate the performance of IC engines
- Learning the environmental impact of IC engines and how they affect their future and the means of handling these problems
