Course Objectives

Course Objective is to provide a unified overview over the basic principles of data communications and computer networks through an understanding of the principles and techniques employed. OSI reference model is used to go through the physical layer, data link layer, media access sub-layer, network layer, and transport layer. LAN/MAN technologies, internetworking, bridging and routing are studied. Upper Layers' issues and network security are introduced.  Students should also be able to understand the various protocols, topologies, layers and configurations used in modern data communications technologies.
