By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Recognize the worldwide diversity of birds and their systematic position
- Explain the evolotionary origin of birds and their relations with closest extant relatives
- Describe basic avian morphology, particularly those that are unique to birds
- Explain avian physiological adaptations on flight and metabolism
- Distinguish between different navigation tools used by birds
- Explain diurnal cycles and regulatory controls on major events in their lives
- Know the basics of avian behavior and adaptations on visual and vocal communication
- Describe the reproductive cycle of birds and factors that influence that cycle
- Explain basics of nesting, incubation and parental care in birds
- Identify common birds typical of Ankara and its surrounding in the field
