comprehend the texts using top-down and bottom-up reading skills.
- Compare and contrast the texts published in newspapers, magazines,
academic journals, literary texts in terms of their structure, use of
vocabulary and style.

- Analyze the use of lexical items in different contexts
-Analyze the meaning differences between synonymous items and the change
in meaning depending on the context it is used.

- Identify the prefixes and suffixes in the vocabulary items to work on
their meaning.
- Analyze the use of idioms, phrasal verbs and collocations in texts of
different formality.
- Compare and contrast the use of items that are cognates in both English
and Turkish.
