Course Objectives:
The overall objective of this course is to provide an understanding of the use of geotechnical
concepts in the analysis and design of environmental systems. Focus will be placed on the
evaluation of waste containment facilities. The course will also cover relevant aspects of mining
geotechnics and remediation technologies of contaminated sites. Class discussions also include
case histories as well as demonstrating the selection, design and performance of various waste
containment facilities.
