Course Learning Outcomes

Model and Simulate Energy Conversion Systems (ECS) that include thermal processes using a computer

1. Develop and apply mathematical models for different energy conversion processes including processes that involve work, heat transfer, combustion and psychrometrics.

2. Integrate the individual models of item (2) into a model of an ECS.

3. Simulate the performance of the ECS under varying conditions.

4. Quantify the thermal and environmental performance of the system. Interpret Results and Communicate.

5. Organize data and present in professional tables and figures.

6. Interpret the significance of results and draw conclusions.

7. Communicate work in professionally organized reports.

8. Communicate engineering ideas orally. Engineering Design.

9. Integrate outcomes 1-9 to develop and then communicate the design of a thermal energy conversion system.
