This course introduces the fundamental concepts related with the identification and control of potential hazards and risks associated with chemical processes and application of chemical engineering fundamentals to reduce the risks and design safe chemical processes. The process operating conditions, toxicity and flammability of materials will be analyzed by using thermodynamic, transport, and reaction/reactor considerations to develop an appreciation for and understanding of chemical incidents and the possible consequences to environment, general public, workers and plant facilities by considering ethical rules.
