Course Objectives
This course aims to
- Develop a critical understanding of the principles, theories, and practices underlying the evaluation and development of instructional materials for English language teaching.
- Equip students with the analytical tools necessary to evaluate a wide range of ELT materials, including textbooks, digital resources, and supplementary materials, in relation to learners' needs and educational contexts.
- Enable students to design and develop effective, contextually relevant, and pedagogically sound ELT materials that support communicative and learner-centered approaches to language learning.
- Foster awareness of the sociocultural, political, and ethical dimensions of materials selection and production, including issues of representation, bias, and inclusivity.
- Promote reflective practice and innovation in the creation, adaptation, and integration of materials to enhance learner engagement and language development.
- Encourage the use of current research, digital technologies, and authentic resources in the creation of dynamic and meaningful learning experiences for diverse language learners.
