Course Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to

(1) define and explain key terms and principles of quantitative type of research utilised in Applied Linguistics, SLA and ELT appropriately

(2) identify, summarise and classify studies in terms of hypotheses, design, variables and data collection methods

(3) critically evaluate published research in the fields of Applied Linguistics, SLA and ELT

(4) formulate appropriate research questions and hypotheses for their research

(5) select data collection procedures that will enable them to answer their research questions

(6) design and implement research in the fields of Applied Linguistics, SLA and ELT

(7) employ basic descriptive and inferential statistics to analyse data

(8) write research papers and articles in APA style
