Course Objectives

This course is the first part of a two-semester undergraduate level course in classical mechanics. It provides an introduction to fundamental ideas of classical mechanics, such as Newton's laws, notions of linear momentum, angular momentum, kinetic and potential energy, conservation laws, retarding forces, oscillations, resonances, and gravitation. The aim of the course is to develop a bridge to the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of mechanics.
