By the end of the course the student is expected:
1) to be able to conduct engineering decision analysis under risk and employ utility theory;
2) to have a full understanding of the uncertainties involved in civil engineering problems and the resulting risks;
3) to utilize different statistical and probabilistic methods for the modeling and analysis of uncertainties;
4) to be able to evaluate risk and formulate risk-based design;
5) to be able to model different engineering problems involving random variations in space and time.
