By the end of the course the students will be able to:
- carry out and manage complex design projects from brief to delivery of final proposals
- conduct market research and user research via observation, interview, and participatory evaluative/generative sessions
- extract hierarchical design insights from research, to inform and direct design decision-making
- develop design solutions that pay careful attention to semantics, interaction, and user experience
- develop design solutions that prioritize longevity through thoughtful design, sustainable production, and sustainable consumption
- present design solutions and design details through a combination of sketching, physical modelling, and computer modelling
- integrate prototyping technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting into their design process
- complete assignments and exercises as individuals and members of a team
