This course is designed to equip students with the basic skills required by all social and political science students to successfully conduct their studies to a high academic standard. The course will achieve this in the following ways:

• Introduce students to Teaching, Learning and research practices and platforms of the University
• Introduce students to writing social and political science bibliographies
• Instruct students on academic citation and referencing
• Instruct students in critical reading and discussion of academic texts
• Introduce students to the use of social and political science data bases and library resources
• Introduce students to the skills necessary for the interpretation of quantitative data sets and statistical tables
