Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will be able to

Knowledge:

Understand the basic architectural concepts that define a design problem such as site, program, tectonics, scale, sustainability, resilience, etc., and apply these during design

Skills:

define, analyse and coordinate external and internal factors concerning problems of small-scale architectural design; Elaborate structural and programmatic solutions for simple architectural design problems develop abstractions of design ideas and concepts in diagrammatic form; Think three-dimensionally refine model making skills and craft argue relevant positions and articulate design ideas expressively in graphical, written and oral form; manage teamwork and collaboratively contribute to design; select appropriate scale, materials, and methods of construction; work fluently between design tools, methods, media, and modes of learning / thinking; develop a strong conceptual foundation, and clearly develop spatial designs derived from that concept; negotiate architectural notions such as the site, program, structure, from, material, sustainability and resilience; Assess and evaluate the spatial consequences of a design

Attitudes:

show evidence of self-confidence in making design decisions within the given time limits; respond positively to criticism; display intellectual curiosity and a critical perspective towards architectural problems; demonstrate self-discipline and strong work ethics.
