Having successfully completed this course, the student will be able to:
- analyze and design sliding bearings,
- select rolling element bearings for a given application,
- get acquainted with the basic features of prime movers and the means of power transmission commonly used in mechanical engineering,
- get acquainted with the terminology, geometry and basic kinematics concepts associated with gearing,
- analyze and design main types of gears,
- analyze and design couplings, brakes and clutches,
- analyze and design flexible power transmission systems,
- acquire experience in using and obtaining information from engineering documents,
- get acquainted with standards, safety, reliability, importance of dimensional parameters and manufacturing aspects of mechanical design, and
- improve their technical report writing skills.
