This course provides the necessary background for a wide range of applications in biomedical engineering. The student will obtain an understanding on how the general principles of electromagnetics, mostly established in physical science and engineering, is also applicable to biological environments. Mainly, it will lead the students to understand the basics of the electrophysiology of the human heart and human brain. The instrumentation parts will provide information about the state of the technology behind the measurement methodologies. Bioelectric fields and events are covered in EE 416 at an introductory level without giving theoretical details.
