Course Objectives

This course will introduce fundamentals of turbulence modeling and simulation, including algebraic and turbulent kinetic energy based eddy-viscosity models that are widely used in the industry to obtain solutions for Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations, Stress Transport and PDF models and fundamentals of Large Eddy Simulations (LES), which provide far more accuracy and detail compared to RANS simulations and is becoming increasingly popular. Applications of these models to the solutions of various aerospace, mechanical, chemical and civil engineering flow systems will be emphasized
