Course Objectives

The course is designed to discuss the different paradigms, theories that explain changes in economic and political structure and its effects on production structure and spatial development. 

The course aims to cover the economic, regulative and political changes that have been prominent in the last four decades, which defined new conditions for regional development and associated theories. After the evaluation of the contextual changes in various fields, the course will introduce how the regional theories have been evolved in the last four decades. Following the review of the existing policies, the critical evaluation of such policies will be introduced by focusing on the outcomes and the reactions against existing policies and practice. The last weeks will be devoted to the existing search for new policies and new principles of planning.
