The overall goal of the course is to develop students' ability to master every-day situations in a Turkish-speaking environment. The objectives of the course are to develop basic communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Emphasis will be placed on vocabulary expansion, basic grammar acquisition and basic comprehension.

By the end of the course, students will be able to

• understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.

• introduce themselves and others.
• ask and answer questions such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
• interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
