Course Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Understand the historical development and fundamental principles of the European Union (EU) legal system, including the sources of EU law and the relationship between EU law and national law

• Examine the legal and policy-making processes of the EU, including the ordinary legislative procedure, the special legislative procedures, and the non-legislative acts, and their impact on the Member States and citizens

• Assess the fundamental rights and principles of EU law, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and their role in protecting the rights and interests of EU citizens and businesses

• Identify and analyze the challenges and opportunities for the future development of the EU legal system, including the impact of Brexit, the rule of law crisis, and the need for institutional reform
