Course Learning Outcomes

1          skill in architectural design satisfying both aesthetic and technical and functional requirements;

2          appropriate knowledge of the history and theory of architecture and related art forms and the humanities, as well as of the social and cultural streams of relevance for architectural design;

3          knowledge of the visual arts in so far as these can have a bearing on architectural design;

4          appropriate knowledge of urban planning and associated techniques;

5          insight into the relationship between people and architectural structures and between architectural structures and their environment, as well as into the need to gear architectural structures and the spaces between them to human needs and standards;

6          insight into the architecture profession and the architect’s role in society, especially when undertaking projects in which social factors must be taken into account;

7          understanding of and skill in using research methods and in project preparation.

8          insight into the problems in the field of constructional design, construction and civil engineering in relation to the design of a building;

9          appropriate knowledge of physical and technological issues, as well as the function of a building with a view to the provision of comfort and protection against climatic elements;

10        technical competence as a designer in order to meet the demands of the users of the building in question within the constraints laid down by the building regulations;

11        appropriate knowledge of the industries, organizations and procedures that play a role in the conversion of designs into buildings and other structures and the planning implications;

12        skill in using images and the written and spoken word in order to convey the essence of a design and plan to others;

13        appropriate knowledge of and insight into decision-making procedures and processes.

14        exit qualifications 7, 8, 9 and 11 also apply to the design, development and production of building systems and components;

15        appropriate knowledge of physics, chemistry and mechanics as the basis for developing a design for a constructional, climate-control and building engineering design;

16        appropriate knowledge of materials, techniques, constructions, climate design and information technology for designing and building systems and components and awareness of the consequences thereof for architectural design;

17        ability to incorporate knowledge from divergent disciplines in a constructional, climate-control and building technology design;
