Course Learning Outcomes: Students who passed this course will be able to:
- understand transmission line theory and technologies
- understand and use matrix representation of microwave networks
- understand impedance matching and design matching networks
- understand resonators and Q-factors
- understand and design passive microwave circuits such as power splitters, couplers, filters and design them according to the given specifications and measure their relevant properties
- understand noise and distortion
- learn active microwave devices such as diodes, varactors and different types of transistors
- understand stability in microwave networks involving active devices and take necessary measures to prevent instability
- design amplifiers to fulfill the requirements such as noise, gain, bandwidth, input-out matching
- design oscillators for modern microwave applications
- understand RF/microwave systems such as wireless communications, radars, satellites, etc
- use CAD tools to design active and passive microwave devices, including optimization, layout, manufacturing, prototyping and measurement.
